Focused Psychological Strategies, tailored to you

My work is grounded in evidence-based Focused Psychological Strategies. I draw on several approaches and tailor them to what you need.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

CBT

A structured, evidence-based approach to noticing how thoughts, feelings, and behaviours interact — and learning practical skills to shift the patterns that keep you stuck.

Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing

EMDR

EMDR is a powerful psychological treatment with over 30 years of research behind it. It helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they lose their charge — often without needing to talk through the trauma in detail.

Resource Therapy

RT

A trauma-informed, brief psychodynamic approach that works with the different parts of self — the parts that carry emotion, pain, protection, and strength — one part at a time.

Gottman Method

Couples

A research-backed framework for couples work, drawing on decades of study into what helps relationships build trust, repair conflict, and stay connected.

Why work with me

Working with me is collaborative, practical and tailored to what you need. I bring more than 20 years of experience and draw on a range of evidence-based therapies, rather than expecting you to fit one particular model or way of working. Together, we focus on what is most useful for you — whether that is making sense of what is happening, developing practical strategies, or doing deeper therapeutic work.

Clinical supervision for social workers & counsellors

I offer clinical supervision for social workers and counsellors who want to strengthen their practice, think more clearly about their work, and feel more confident navigating complexity. My approach is trauma-aware, evidence-based, and practical — grounded in 20 years across mental health, grief and loss, palliative care, and private practice.

This is a space to step back from the day-to-day, think things through properly, and make sense of what’s happening in your work — especially when things feel complex or unclear. Supervision is collaborative and shaped around your experience, whether you’re early in your career or refining an established practice.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if you’re the right fit for me?

Finding the right therapist matters. If you’re looking for a practical, evidence-based approach that also takes into account your individual circumstances and pace, we may be a good fit. You’re welcome to get in touch to ask questions before booking.

What if I’m not sure where to start?

That’s completely okay. Many people come in feeling unsure or overwhelmed. Part of my role is to help you make sense of what’s going on and work out a clear, manageable starting point.

What can I expect in the first session?

The first session is a chance to understand what’s brought you in and what you’d like to change. We’ll talk through your current situation, any relevant background, and begin to identify a clear direction for our work together.

How do you approach therapy?

My work is trauma-aware, evidence-based, and practical. I draw on approaches such as CBT, EMDR, Resource Therapy, and the Gottman Method, tailoring sessions to your needs and focusing on strategies that are useful in everyday life.

There is room in therapy for complexity, contradiction, and different ways of understanding yourself. You do not need to present one neat or simplified version of who you are. I will respect the language you use for yourself, remain curious rather than make assumptions, and welcome correction if I misunderstand.

Do you work with couples?

Yes. I support couples to improve communication, work through conflict, and rebuild trust. My approach is structured and practical, helping you both understand what’s happening in the relationship and how to move forward.

Do you offer clinical supervision?

Yes. I offer supervision for social workers and counsellors, providing a reflective, practical space to strengthen clinical thinking, work through complex cases, and support ongoing professional growth.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes, sessions are available online, offering flexibility and accessibility depending on your needs.
